Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Sooryavanshi’ is the first big Hindi release in theaters nationwide after the second wave of coronavirus. Not just Bollywood distributors, even Telugu filmmakers were keen to see the film’s box-office prospects at the theaters. And the result has brought cheers to everyone. The film collected more than Rs 120 crore nett in India. It is one of the biggest first-week collections in the last two years.
However, ‘Sooryavanshi’ performed poorly overseas with about $4.5 million (the USA, Gulf, and rest of the world). But domestic performance is what matters for now.
Director Rajamouli and his team are celebrating the success of ‘Sooryavanshi’ as they had been worried about the prospects of ‘RRR’ in North India. With ‘Sooryavanshi’ turning out to be a hit, and the terrific response for the recent teaser and song of ‘Naatu Naatu’, the team of ‘RRR’ has become more confident now.
Rajamouli’s team knows how to create hype around the movie. So, the film will open in a big way in North India as well. However, the Kerala market and the overseas prospects are still uncertain.
