Speculation is running high about whether SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film with Mahesh Babu will be a two-parter or a single film. Although Rajamouli, India’s number one filmmaker, has not made any official announcements, the media and social media are rife with theories.
Traditionally, Rajamouli holds a press meet before filming begins to reveal the plot, cast, and crew details. However, this time, he broke the norm and directly commenced shooting.
The film, tentatively referred to as SSMB29, is a globe-trotting adventure thriller based on Wilbur Smith’s novels. It stars Mahesh Babu in the lead, with Priyanka Chopra as one of the female stars and Prithviraj Sukumaran in a key role. Given Rajamouli’s history of making blockbuster two-parters (Baahubali series), many assumed he would adopt a similar approach, with the first part releasing in 2027.

However, some Bollywood media outlets have reported that the film will not divide into two parts. Social media picked up the story, leading to widespread discussion. Despite the ongoing buzz, there has been no official confirmation from Rajamouli’s team.
A press meet is expected to provide clarity on the project, which will be shot in multiple international locations, including Kenya’s national parks. Produced by KL Narayana, the film promises grand visual effects, intense adventure sequences, and Rajamouli’s signature action set pieces, with an increased focus on animal interactions.
