Superstar Rajinikanth has finally addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding his alleged jealousy over Vijay rising to power and becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to the media today, Rajinikanth firmly denied all rumors suggesting that he was upset with Vijay’s political success or attempting to prevent his rise.
“I am not in politics to be jealous of Vijay becoming Chief Minister,” Rajinikanth clarified.
The veteran actor also dismissed reports claiming that he had tried to bring rival political parties (DMK and AIADMK) together to stop Vijay from forming the government.
Explaining his recent meeting with former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Rajinikanth said, “I met Stalin because I felt bad that he lost the Kolathur constituency. So I personally met Stalin sir. After that, rumors started that I was trying to unite both parties to stop Vijay from becoming Chief Minister.”
Rajinikanth went on to praise Vijay’s remarkable political journey and described his achievement as historic. He even compared Vijay’s rise with legendary actor-politicians M. G. Ramachandran and N. T. Rama Rao.
“Vijay has achieved even more than MGR and NTR politically. He independently took on the BJP at the Centre and the two major Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu and still emerged victorious. It surprises me and also makes me happy,” Rajinikanth stated.
Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, won 108 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. With the support of Congress and other parties, Vijay formed the government and became Chief Minister within just two years of launching his political party, a feat many political observers described as unprecedented in Tamil Nadu politics.
The rumors about Rajinikanth being unhappy reportedly gained traction because he neither posted congratulatory messages on social media nor publicly commented on Vijay’s victory until now. Meanwhile, actor-politician Kamal Haasan had personally met Vijay and congratulated him recently.
