Ram Gopal Varma apologizes to Megastar Chiranjeevi

A few years ago, maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma made several controversial remarks about Megastar Chiranjeevi and even took satirical digs at Pawan Kalyan through his films. However, Varma seems to have moved past that phase, distancing himself from political influences and returning to his first love: filmmaking.
Recently, Ram Gopal Varma has resumed his directing career in Hindi.
Meanwhile, his iconic debut film “Shiva”, regarded as a milestone in Telugu cinema, is set for a grand 4K Dolby Atmos re-release. Ahead of its release, Chiranjeevi shared a video recalling the film’s impact when it first hit theaters in 1989.
In his message, Chiranjeevi not only praised Nagarjuna Akkineni for his intense performance but also showered appreciation on Varma. “I thought then that this young filmmaker would rule the industry,” Chiranjeevi said, acknowledging Varma’s revolutionary touch.
In response, Ram Gopal Varma issued an apology to Chiranjeevi for having offended him “unintentionally” in the past and expressed gratitude for the Megastar’s large-heartedness.
“Shiva 4K” is scheduled to hit theaters on November 14, 2025.
