Rashmika: Deepfake video is scary not just for me!

Rashmika Mandanna about Deepfake video

Rashmika Mandanna’s Deepfake video went viral. In the video, a lady wearing a black yoga bodysuit with Rashmika’s face digitally edited onto hers enters an elevator and smiles for the camera.

Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary actor, stated that it must be dealt with legally. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has demanded that the posts be removed from social media platforms or face legal action.

Rashmika Mandanna has also commented. In a post on her Instagram Stories, she stated that it is frightening not only for her but for everyone to watch how technology is being abused.

“I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused,” she wrote.

She also mentioned that had this incident when she was at vulnerable age and stage, it would have been to tackle this. She said thankfully she has family and friends as protect system.

She continued, “Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well-wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how I could ever tackle this.”

“We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft.”
