RRR: Games with ‘bloated collection’ posters!

Rajamouli’s period drama ‘RRR’ featuring NTR and Ram Charan received massive collections in the first weekend. The film has collected $9.4 million (Rs 71.51 crore gross) in the USA alone. There is no doubt that it has raked in a record amount in the first three days in AP and Telangana.

However, as is the case with most Indian film production houses, the team of ‘RRR’ has begun inflating the numbers from the first day itself. It got record collection, but still, the team was not satisfied. Or it seems so. They have begun adding more money to the real collection to make it even bigger.

A day after the release, the production team first released a poster of Rs 223 crore worldwide gross. Within minutes, the poster was pulled out. The production house later posted on social media handles the same poster without the numbers (collections).

On Monday, three days after the release, Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh had shared a poster of a Rs 500 Cr collection (in three days). The same poster was ‘pushed’ to make it ‘official’. But the production house posted another poster without the numbers. The company further tweeted, “Extremely Delighted to know that #RRRMovie is the Highest grossing film at the worldwide box office since the last three days.”

Why is that the team of ‘RRR’ resorting to this gimmick when the film actually did astounding business at the theaters on the first weekend? Why are they trying to add more numbers to the authentic amount?
