RRR makers: No legal fight with AP govt

RRR

A section of media recently published reports that the makers of ‘RRR’ are planning to make a legal fight against the AP government on ticket prices. The government slashed the ticket rates in cinema halls in the state eight months ago. The maximum admission fee in single screens in small towns and villages has been reduced to as low as Rs 20 to Rs 30.

The Telugu film industry has been making pleas to the government to revise the ticket prices.

If the government doesn’t scarp the G.O, it will affect the collections of biggies like ‘RRR’. The film was given to distributors for astronomical prices. Against this backdrop, it was rumored that the makers of ‘RRR’ have plans to approach the High Court against the government’s decision.

But DVV Entertainments, which is producing the film, said in a statement that they have no such plans. “It is true that the slashing of ticket prices will affect our film immensely. But we at #RRRMovie have no intention of going to court. We are trying to approach the honorable Andhra Pradesh CM garu and explain our situation for an amicable solution,” the statement read.

‘RRR’ features NTR and Ram Charan as the lead stars and is directed by SS Rajamouli. Produced by DVV Danayya, ‘RRR’ is slated to hit theaters worldwide on Jan 7, 2022.

One reason ‘Baahubali’ movies minted big money in Andhra Pradesh was the astronomical ticket prices (Rs 200 to Rs 500). But the AP government has decided to put a cap on ticket prices in cinema halls in the state.
