The regular shoot for Ravi Teja and Gopichand Malineni’s untitled film (currently referred to as “RT4GM”) was set to begin today. However, this did not occur. The shoot has been pushed back to December. There is a strong buzz that the film is in serious trouble after director Gopichand Malineni demanded all important crew from Bollywood and other industries, including stylists, camera assistants, writers, and assistant writers.
Surprisingly, the production company has realized that the film’s budget has risen above the initial estimate after taking into account all of these factors. However, the film was launched with great fanfare only a month ago.
The issue started when Ravi Teja, who is also a co-producer, mentioned that if the film goes over budget, he might not get much money. Ravi Teja will receive a stake in the overall business in addition to a fixed amount as part of his remuneration. But OTT deals have recently been impacted.
On October 31st, we published a story about how OTT companies have started controlling spend on acquisition of the movies and refusing to buy bundle films from production houses. Check out the article here. All major production companies are now feeling the heat. Even Hindi-dubbing rights are not handsome as production houses position their films as ‘Pan-Indian’ projects.
As a result, Ravi Teja and Mythri Movie Makers are now working to reduce production costs. The film will not begin production until Gopichand Malineni revises the budget estimates.
