Rukmini Vasanth is Kanakavathi in ‘Kantara Chapter 1’

Rukmini Vasanth, the rising star of Kannada cinema, has been winning hearts with her beauty and performances in recent films. Now, she’s stepping into the pan-India spotlight with a series of high-profile projects. One of them is “Kantara Chapter 1,” the prequel to the blockbuster Kantara.

Directed by Rishab Shetty, “Kantara Chapter 1” is slated for release on October 2, 2025. 

Marking the occasion of Varalakshmi Vratam today, the makers unveiled the first look of Rukmini Vasanth from the film.

The poster showcases Rukmini in a majestic royal avatar, portraying the character of Kanakavathi, a princess. While Rishab Shetty reprises the male lead, Rukmini plays the female lead in this mythic epic.

Produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the Humble Films banner, “Kantara Chapter 1” is already one of the most eagerly awaited Indian films of the year.

Originally a Kannada film, “Kantara” became a pan-Indian phenomenon thanks to Rishab Shetty’s captivating performance, his visionary direction, and Ajaneesh Loknath’s powerful music. Given its massive success, the Kantara franchise is now set to continue. The prequel will release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam simultaneously along with its Kannada version.
