Just a week ago, the makers of ‘Shaakuntalam’ announced the release date. They locked November 4th as its release date. Seven days later, the makers came up with a weird reason to announce its postponement. The film has now been postponed indefinitely.
The reason cited is that they are converting the visual spectacle into 3D which is taking plenty of time. The plan to release the film in 3D has been there since its launch. How come things change in a week?
Apparently, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 107th movie is releasing in the first or second week of December. To pave the way for Balayya’s movie, the film seems to have changed the date.
Directed by Gunasekhar and produced by his daughter Neelima, ‘Shaakuntalam’ stars Samantha as the titular character of Shakuntala. Dev Mohan plays the role of Dushyanth. The mythological fantasy film is based on Kalidasa’s ‘Abhignaana Shaakuntalam’. It is being made as a Pan-Indian project.
Mani Sharma is providing the music. It will be Samantha’s first pan-Indian film.
