Director Shankar has had numerous setbacks recently. His films have failed disastrously, and now the Enforcement Directorate has seized his assets.
Shankar, once esteemed as the showman of South Indian film, experienced two consecutive dismal failures with Kamal Haasan’s “Indian 2” and Ram Charan’s “Game Changer.”
Today, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Chennai has provisionally attached three immovable properties valued at roughly Rs. 10.11 crore, owned by Shnakar. This action pertains to an investigation on charges that Shankar’s film “Enthiran” (“Robo” in Telugu), featuring Rajinikanth, may have copied its narrative from Aarur Tamilnadan’s story ‘Jiguba.’.
The matter is being examined under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. This is the first occasion in which a director’s assets were seized by the ED in a plagiarism case.
The Enforcement Directorate stated that “Enthiran” generated Rs 290 crore globally and commenced a money laundering investigation based on a complaint under the Copyright Act.
