Spirit: Sandeep Reddy Vanga hits out at Deepika Padukone for ‘leaking story’

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has taken a dig at Deepika Padukone in a social media post, accusing her of playing dirty games and leaking the story he had narrated to her. But he didn’t mention her name directly.

It is worth recalling that Vanga and Padukone recently had a fallout over pay and other demands. Vanga had initially wanted to cast her as the female lead in his upcoming film “Spirit,” starring Prabhas. He narrated the story and her character to her before finalizing the casting, as is customary. However, after their discussions failed, he ultimately cast Triptii Dimri as the female lead.

Following the announcement of Triptii Dimri opposite Prabhas, several Bollywood media outlets reported that “Spirit” contained some A-rated scenes involving the female protagonist. These reports also claimed that during Vanga’s discussions with Deepika, she had suggested toning down the intimate sequences.

The timing of these reports led Vanga to suspect foul play.

In his post, though he didn’t name her directly, he implied that Deepika Padukone had breached trust by leaking the story. He emphasized that when he narrates a script to someone, he expects them to be professional and honor any non-disclosure agreements. He further alleged that the individual not only leaked details from the story but also tried to sabotage the career of the rising actress Triptii Dimri. He slammed the dirty games.

Sandeep Vanga slams Dirty PR Games

He wrote, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are….Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for ? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it. Aisa karo…. Agli baar poori kahani bolna… kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha. #dirtyPRgames.”

Sandeep Reddy Vanga concluded his post boldly, stating that nothing will affect him or his film. He ended with a Hindi idiom: “Khundak Mein Billi Khamba Noche”, which translates to “a frustrated cat scratches the pillar,” implying that an angry person blames others to vent their own frustrations.
