SSMB29: Only characters are being taken from novels!

Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu are collaborating on an untitled film currently known as #SSMB29. Touted to be a globe-trotting action movie, the film is in pre-production. Mahesh Babu already wore long hair and a beard to portray the role of an adventurist.

It is also believed that Vijayendra Prasad, the writer and Rajamouli’s father, based the film’s script on the novels of British-South African novelist Wilbur Addison Smith. Both Rajamouli and his father, Vijayendra Prasad, adore his novels and draw inspiration from some of the characters in his novels and episodes.

Our sources say Vijayendra Prasad has written the script for “SSMB29” from two of Wilbur Smith’s novels in particular. He has used only certain episodes and the main characters of these novels. It is not going to be the film version of these novels, but a script inspired by their characters.

It is known to everyone that Rajamouli usually copies action episodes and sequences from Hollywood or international movies. In “RRR”, an entire 15 minute-action episode was lifted from a Korean movie. So, #SSMB29 will be an amalgam of the story and characters of Smith’s and action episodes from old Hollywood movies. But this time, Rajamouli and Vijayendra Prasad reportedly bought the official rights to those novels, not plagraising them.

The official launch date of the film remains uncertain. Rajamouli and producer KL Narayana didn’t make any announcements about this film on August 9, Mahesh Babu’s birthday, as fans anticipated.

It is expected that the film will begin either in September or October of this year and be released in 2026 or 2027, depending on production.
