The Raja Saab, Akhanda 2 and MSG yet to close OTT deals

With the Dasara season ending with the arrival of “Kantara Chapter 1,” the next three to four months will see several notable Telugu releases, including “Andhra King Taluka,” “Mass Jathara,” “Dacoit,” and others. However, the primary focus is on three major upcoming films: Prabhas’s “The Raja Saab,” Balakrishna’s “Akhanda 2,” and Megastar Chiranjeevi’s “Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu.”

These three big-ticket films are yet to finalize their OTT deals. Yes, social media may have flashed reports of record-breaking agreements for these titles, but the reality is very different. OTT giants have adopted a new strategy: delaying the deal-making process until producers become impatient. Unlike earlier, the platforms are no longer paying massive amounts for star-driven projects. Instead, they have become far more frugal in their offers and are adding multiple conditions.

All these films have initiated talks with top OTT players. Both sides have exchanged price quotes, but deals remain open. While producers are expecting hefty amounts, OTT platforms are slashing rates.

“Akhanda 2: Thaandavam” is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 5. Netflix has made an offer, but the producer is demanding more. In response, Netflix has added two additional conditions, including one tied to the film’s theatrical run. The deal is still not officially sealed.

Prabhas’s “The Raja Saab” and Chiranjeevi’s “Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu” are also in talks with multiple OTT platforms, but no agreement has been finalized so far. Both films are slated for Sankranthi 2026 release.
