The teaser of Kuberaa, titled “Trance of Kuberaa”, was unveiled today, offering a compelling glimpse into director Sekhar Kammula’s most unconventional project yet.
The film features Dhanush in the lead, with Nagarjuna Akkineni playing a pivotal role and Rashmika Mandanna as Dhanush’s love interest. Jim Sarbh, known for his intense performances in Bollywood, takes on the role of the antagonist.
Set against the backdrop of Mumbai, the teaser hints at a gritty narrative centered around power, price, and unrelenting greed. It’s a significant departure in both style and theme for Sekhar Kammula, who is collaborating for the first time with music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP).
A haunting song, “Naadi Naadi Naadi Naade Yee Lokamantha” runs through the teaser, underscoring the film’s core themes: the everyday man’s struggles and the dark side of unchecked corporate ambition. The song was written by Nanda Kishore and powerfully sung by Dhanush and Hemachandra Vedala.
Dhanush appears in a rugged, raw avatar—at times even resembling a destitute figure—while Nagarjuna captivates with a mysterious and layered character. The teaser also features striking visuals of Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh, hinting at their significant roles in this complex tale of power dynamics.
Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, Kuberaa is Sekhar Kammula’s first pan-Indian project and is set for a grand release on June 20.
