Veteran actor Kota Srinivasa Rao passed away after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last on Sunday morning at his residence in Film Nagar, Hyderabad. He was 83.
Kota Srinivasa Raobegan his acting career on the theatre stage and made his film debut in 1978 with “Pranam Khareedu.” However, it was his powerful performance in Pratighatana (1985) that gave him his major breakthrough.
Over the years, he delivered unforgettable performances in films like Repati Pourulu, Aha Naa Pellanta, Siva, Sathruvu, Gaayam, Money, Hello Brother, Aame, Little Soldiers, Ganesh, Aa Naluguru, Athadu, Bommarillu, Sarkar, Attarintiki Daredi, Aadavari Matalaku Arthalu Verule, and Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum.
Renowned for his versatility and screen presence, Kota Srinivasa Rao had a career spanning over four decades and acted in more than 750 films across Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi languages.
Known for effortlessly portraying a wide range of characters—from cold-blooded villains to loving fathers and comic roles—he was truly one of Indian cinema’s finest character actors. He also served as a politician, and his immense contribution to the arts was honored with several accolades, including the Padma Shri in 2015.
