“Liger” bombed like anything. The film was pitched as a pan-Indian project and aggressively promoted. Vijay Deverakonda toured major cities, proclaiming that the film would be a box office smash. However, the film turned out to be a flop.
Due to this, director Sukumar has cancelled his plans to make his next film with Vijay Deverakonda. Instead, after the completion of “Pushpa 2,” Sukumar will work with actors such as Ram Charan and Prabhas.
On the other hand, Vijay Deverakonda was supposed to start Puri Jagannadh’s “JGM,” but he dropped out and signed a cop drama directed by Gautam Tinnanuri instead. The same production company that was to finance “JGM” collaborated with Sithara Entertainments to produce this film. Interestingly, despite the failure of “Liger,” the producers have increased Vijay’s pay this time.
Vijay Deverakonda has proven that he can generate significant non-theatrical revenue. He continues to attract brands. He has a fan following among youngsters. So, despite the hero’s failures, the producers agreed to pay more money. He receives fat paycheque for this period film in which he plays a police officer.
