Skipping theatrical window and streaming the films on digital platforms is slowly becoming the normal trend in Tollywood. But there are some actors and filmmakers who are not willing to release them on OTT platforms first.
Rana’s ‘Virata Parvam’ is one such film. Rana has good relations and contacts with Netflix streaming app. Suresh Productions produced ‘Krishna and His Leela’ was successfully released on Netflix recently thanks to Rana. So, the streaming company has shown interest to bag the rights of the direct digital release of his upcoming movie ‘Varata Paravam’.
However, the makers have refused the offer. Director Venu Udugula told us that ‘Virata Parvam’ will only release in the cinema halls only. “We will wait for any number of months but it will only release in the theaters first,” he said.
Directed by Venu Udugula, ‘Virata Paravam’ has Rana essaying the role of a Naxalite in this period drama. Sai Pallavi is his romantic interest. Priyamani and Nandita Das are essaying the key roles.
The film has completed only 50 percent of the shoot until now. Rana is expected to resume the shoot in November.
