Prabhas and Nag Ashwin’s “Kalki 2898 AD” grew with each passing day, despite initial mixed reviews. The film performed best on Sunday in North India during the four-day weekend, resulting in massive total collections for the film in its first weekend.
“Kalki 2898 AD” saw all theaters packed in three regions in particular: Nizam, North America, and North India.
North America: All-time record
In North America, the film exceeded expectations and set an all-time record for an Indian film, grossing a whopping Rs 11 million in its opening weekend. No other Indian film grossed so much in its first weekend. By the end of its first weekend, “Kalki 2898 AD” had joined the top ten highest-grossing Indian films in North America.
North India’s collection is massive
“Kalki 2898 AD” has become the highest grossing film in the first weekend of 2024 in the North Indian market, outperforming many previous Bollywood blockbusters this year. The film made Rs 110 crore (nett) in four days. On Sunday, the film grossed approximately Rs 39 crore, its best day.
In Nizam, it is extremely strong
“Kalki 2898 AD” maintained its impressive performance throughout the weekend. On Sunday, it saw a massive increase in collections. Overall, the film collected more than Rs 46 crore in Telangana. This is enormous.
Andhra Pradesh is fairly average
However, the film underperformed in Andhra Pradesh. In general, Prabhas films do well in coastal Andhra areas, but “Kalki 2898 AD” performed averagely.
Globally, the first weekend of “Kalki 2898 AD” is massive.
