“Funky,” produced by Sithara Entertainments, is gearing up for its theatrical release, but the film appears to be facing an uphill task in terms of pre-release buzz. Despite the release of a trailer and producer Naga Vamsi’s usual high-decibel promotions, the excitement around the film remains muted.
The film stars Vishwak Sen as Komal, a struggling film director dreaming of delivering a hit. Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead. Directed by KV Anudeep of Jathi Ratnalu fame, the trailer promises quirky humor and punchy dialogues, elements that have become the director’s trademark. While Anudeep is known for simple narratives packed with laughs, his previous outing Prince, starring Sivakarthikeyan, failed to impress at the box office, making Funky an important project for him.
Vishwak Sen has also undergone a visible makeover for the film, clearly aiming to reconnect with younger audiences. However, the online response does not seem to match the effort.
As of now, BookMyShow shows just a little over 12,000 user interests for “Funky,” a relatively low figure for a film led by a young and popular actor like Vishwak Sen.
With both the actor and the director in need of a solid success, “Funky” has become a crucial release for the team. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on February 13, 2026, and it remains to be seen whether last-minute promotions and word of mouth can turn the tide.
