Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu -Movie Review

What’s it about?

After losing the elections, Babu Garu patiently is waiting to dethrone the current Chief Minister Jagannadha Reddy. Babu’s close aide Dayaneni Rama comes up with an idea that if they kill an innocent person and put blame on CM’s gang, his government would fall. In a twist, Rama gets killed in Vijayawada. Who ordered his murder? What consequences does it lead to?

Analysis

‘Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu, the latest outing from Ram Gopal Varma’s stable, is an outlandish attempt in the genre of political thrillers. This is neither a spoof, nor a political docudrama, or thriller. It is an amalgamation of poorly written spoofs, a remake of viral WhatsApp videos.

Set in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, the film begins in a decent manner but it doesn’t take much time to slip away from being a political thriller to being a bad troll video.

With no rhyme, the story moves from one eccentric sequence to another with characters come and go for no reason. There actually doesn’t exist a coherent plot to say. ‘Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu’ is more of RGV’s exercise to settle his personal grudges on former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu who stalled the release of his earlier movie “Lakshmi’s NTR”.

The beginning portions devote to humiliate Naidu and his son Lokesh on-screen by re-creating some viral incidents. In the same manner, he also brings the characters of Pawan Kalyan and KA Paul into the picture. These scenes look like they are taken straight out of a mimicry show.

The entire second half gives a headache for sure. Towards the end of the movie, Satya Krishna who played the role of Brahmanandam’s wife utters, “Do you know what you are doing?”. The audiences feel the same about the movie’s direction.

The casting is perfect, but acting is amateurish. Of all the spoofs and scenes, only PP John’s comedy whose role is based on evangelist KA Paul generates some good laughs. Film critics Kathi Mahesh and journalist Swapna appear in ridiculous roles.

Bottom-line: Online trolls and meme creators make a better job than what RGV and director Siddharth Thatholu had created in ‘Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu’. A boring political spoof.
