Naa Nuvve – Movie Review

What’s it about!
 
Meera (Tamannah) a radio jockey believes in destiny. Varun (Kalyan Ram) a techie who is about to head to USA doesn’t believe in destiny. They are poles apart. Like in all movies, two different persons are destined to meet and fall in love. Meera falls in love with Varun as believes he’s her lucky charm. They fell in love and are about to marry but destiny has other plans, some misunderstanding puts him locked in faraway place (a kidnap saga). What happens next is anybody’s guess.
 
Analysis
 
After a gap of decade, director Jayendra who debuted with Siddharth and Nithya starrer ‘180’ has returned to wield megaphone with ‘Naa Nuvve’. His sophomore movie centers on a simple romantic whimsy: destiny. Tollywood has just seen a splurge of movies that made with the theme of destiny and serendipity and this is the latest addition.
 
Like in his previous movie ‘180’, director Jayendra has focused more on capturing beautiful frames, presenting simple moments than on the story. The film begins on slow note and takes plenty of time to come to the point but it gets it groove just before the interval and offers some good moments.

Kalyan Ram who doesn’t believe in destiny decides to test fate by splitting up on a train journey and watch if destiny bring them back together. This sequence is dealt well. The interval bang is also neat. Sporadic moments are interesting but on a whole it leaves unsatisfied.
 
Kalyan Ram has completely changed his look and acting style. He is good in this new avatar. He has shown ease in playing the romantic role. Tamannah is perfect in the role of Meera. She has got better written role than Kalyan Ram. Vennela Kishore and Praveen provide some laughs. The actress who is seen as grand mom is impressive. Tanikella as Tamannah’s father is okay.
 
Technically it has many merits. First and foremost, P C Sreeram’s camerawork and beautiful frames catch our eye. The presentation of Kachiguda railways station is so beautiful. Sharreth’s music is more appealing on ears than on the screen due to bad placement. Editing is neat but the film needs to be trimmed as it moves on snail pace. The biggest drawback of the movie is screenplay writing. The scenes were seen in many films that centered on destiny theme before. Bad script is major issue.
 
Bottom-line: ‘Naa Nuvve’ a story about love and destiny has its moments but it runs on a slow pace and doesn’t grip you. After a point, it becomes a tedious watch. The magical moments that it promises are less and far but beautiful camera work by PC Sreeram, a brand new Kalyan Ram in romantic avatar and Tamannah are saving grace in this unrealistic story.
