Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Homebound’ misses out on Oscar nomination

Janhvi Kapoor

The nominations for the Oscars 2026 were announced today, and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Hindi film “Homebound” failed to make the cut. The film, which was widely tipped as a strong contender, did not secure a spot among the five nominees in the Best International Feature Film category.

The films nominated in this category include “The Secret Agent” from Brazil, “It Was Just an Accident” from France, “Sentimental Value” from Norway, “Sirât” from Norway, and “The Voice of Hind Rajab” from Tunisia. As a result, “Homebound” is officially out of the Oscar race.

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, “Homebound” featured Janhvi Kapoor in the female lead role. The film revolved around the lives of two friends who face discrimination in their professional journeys due to caste-based barriers. Janhvi had actively participated in the film’s publicity and promotional campaigns, hoping it would make it to the nominations list.

With “Homebound” no longer in contention, Janhvi Kapoor is expected to shift her full focus to her upcoming projects. She is currently playing the female lead opposite Ram Charan in “Peddi“, which is scheduled for release soon. The actress is likely to intensify promotions for the film in the coming weeks.
