After delays, Jana Nayagan eyes May release

Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, is finally gearing up for its theatrical release after months of delay. With the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls now concluded and results set to be announced on May 4, the film is no longer expected to face political hurdles.

The political action thriller, directed by H. Vinoth and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, had earlier aimed for a Pongal 2026 release. However, its politically sensitive content led to extended scrutiny from the CBFC, pushing back its release plans.

This film holds special significance as it isVijay’s final big-screen outing. Irrespective of poll results, he will shift focus to his political journey with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party. The project had also faced setbacks earlier due to leaks that impacted its OTT prospects.

Now, with clearance likely around the corner, producers are eyeing multiple release dates in May, including the 8th, 14th, and the Bakrid weekend on May 27. Meanwhile, strong buzz among fans suggests that May 8 could be the finalized release date.
