Rajamouli reveals father-son bond is the heart of Varanasi

Director Rajamouli, who is currently in France, recently interacted with fans of his films “RRR” and “Baahubali” and offered fresh insights into his upcoming magnum opus, “Varanasi.”
Speaking about the film, Rajamouli said audiences can expect a grand cinematic experience packed with visual spectacle and adventurous storytelling. He highlighted several key elements that will define the film:
- Gods from the Ramayana
- Large-scale natural disasters
- The wilderness of Africa and Antarctica
- Fantastical visual elements
- A powerful father-son drama
While describing the film’s scale, Rajamouli stressed that “Varanasi” is not merely about breathtaking visuals and larger-than-life sequences. According to him, the emotional relationship between a father and son forms the soul of the story and serves as the film’s driving force.
The filmmaker also revealed that a major portion of the shooting is expected to be completed by the end of September. Following that, the team will shift its focus to extensive post-production work.
“Varanasi” stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. The globe-trotting adventure drama is being mounted on a massive scale and is currently scheduled to hit theaters on April 7, 2027.
