Toxic: Nayanthara’s smoking scene raises questions about her role

Yash-starrer “Toxic”, directed by Geethu Mohandas, continues to generate curiosity, particularly around Nayanthara’s role in the film.
The movie reportedly features Yash in dual roles – that of a father and son – and boasts a star-studded female cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth.
So far, the makers have released two songs and two trailers. While the promotional material clearly suggests that Kiara Advani and Tara Sutaria play the romantic interests of Yash, Nayanthara’s character remains a mystery.
The latest song has further fueled speculation. In one sequence, Nayanthara is seen standing alongside Yash, casually taking a cigarette from his hand and smoking, adding an intriguing layer to her character. Earlier trailers also hinted at her involvement in action sequences, suggesting that she plays a powerful and significant role.
Fans are now speculating that Nayanthara may be paired opposite the older version of Yash, who is said to play the father’s role. However, the makers have not revealed any details about her character beyond confirming her name as Ganga.
Reports suggest that Nayanthara received a remuneration of over Rs 10 crore for “Toxic,” making her the highest-paid actress in the film.
Produced on a grand scale, “Toxic” is scheduled to hit theaters on August 21, 2026.
