The divorce proceedings involving Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, have been adjourned to August 7 by the Chengalpattu Mahila Court.

The case came up for hearing on Monday morning, after which the court decided to postpone further proceedings. Sangeetha had filed the divorce petition in December 2025. The matter was initially scheduled for hearing in April before being deferred to June 15.

According to reports, the court also declined Vijay’s request to attend the proceedings through video conferencing. As the sitting Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Vijay is expected to appear in person for future hearings.

Meanwhile, speculation continues that family members, particularly Vijay’s mother, are attempting to reconcile the couple. However, with the divorce case still underway, no official development regarding a possible reconciliation has emerged.

Vijay and Sangeetha tied the knot in August 1999 and are parents to two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha.

Notably, neither Sangeetha nor their children attended Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony as Chief Minister earlier this year. Their absence had fueled speculation about a rift within the family.

Jason Sanjay has meanwhile ventured into filmmaking and is making his directorial debut with “Sigma,” starring Sundeep Kishan. The film is currently in production and is slated for release soon.
