Day 1: Maa Inti Bangaram posts massive numbers worldwide

Samantha has once again proved her box-office pull. Returning to the big screen in a lead role after a gap of three years, she has successfully drawn audiences to theatres. Her comeback film, “Maa Inti Bangaram,” grossed more than Rs 12 crore worldwide on its opening day.
Directed by Nandini Reddy, the film collected approximately Rs 6.20 crore in India. It added another Rs 6 crore-plus from overseas markets, with its international performance emerging as a pleasant surprise.
The film registered unexpectedly strong openings in North America and several other overseas territories, reaffirming Samantha’s popularity among audiences. Although she appeared in a brief role in “Subham” last year, this marks her first full-fledged lead role in three years, making the opening even more significant.
For a female-centric film, these numbers have stunned trade circles. The strong start also proves that Samantha continues to command considerable box-office pull despite her long hiatus from acting.
It remains to be seen whether the film can sustain its momentum over the weekend, especially as reviews have been largely mixed.
