After several dull weeks at the Telugu box office, Nani’s HIT 3 arrived like a jolt of energy. Backed by strong pre-release hype and aggressive promotions led by Nani himself, the film opened to a massive response.
“HIT 3” took a roaring start worldwide. The first-day collections in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and the USA were terrific.
In Telangana, the film raked in around ₹4.4 crore. It is the second-highest opening in Nani’s career.
In the USA, “HIT 3” crossed the $1 million mark on day one itself. In Andhra Pradesh too, the numbers were either the best or close to the best in Nani’s career. The survival thriller–investigative drama clearly benefited from the May Day holiday and the intense promotional campaign.
Trade circles are hopeful that the momentum will carry through the weekend.
However, “HIT 3” has received mixed reviews. While Nani’s performance and the film’s fairly engaging first half got a thumbs-up, the excessive bloodshed, liberal use of expletives, stretched runtime, and a dragging second half drew criticism.
