As the number of Omicron variant COVID-19 cases is increasing across the Telugu states, people have stopped stepping out to watch films in the theaters. Single-screen theaters and multiplexes are wearing deserted looks in Hyderabad. The gloomy picture at the theaters is the same in other places in Telangana.

The footfall in theaters in Andhra Pradesh, too, that saw high numbers during Sankranthi week, has decreased. All theaters witnessed low numbers.

Last weekend, no notable Telugu films had a release. Nagarjuna’s ‘Bangarraju’ had seen some traction in some pockets in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. Overall, the film turned out to be an average grosser. It is a flop in Telangana and the USA, but it did pretty well in Andhra Pradesh.

‘Rowdy Boys’, and ‘Hero’ are continuing in the theaters as there is no flow of new releases.
