First weekend: Radhe Shyam posts decent numbers in AP, TS

Radhe Shyam

Prabhas’s Rs 300-cr budgeted biggie ‘Radhe Shyam’ hit the theaters last Friday worldwide amidst high expectations. With critics trashing the film and audiences also terming it as a bore, the film didn’t show any growth in the collections after the terrific first day.

However, the hold was good. It didn’t see a huge fall in the Telugus states. The film is estimated to have collected in the range of Rs 44 to 47 Cr in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The real test for the film comes today, the first Monday.

Directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, ‘Radhe Shyam’ is a love story, in which Prabhas played a palmist. Radha Krishna Kumar’s poor writing (his comedy writing is pathetic) is the main culprit for the film’s bad performance at the ticket windows.

‘Radhe Shyam’, on the other hand, has raked in $1.8million in its opening weekend in the USA. It was an average gross, a lot less than Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Bheemla Nayak’. Pawan Kalyan’s film grossed $2 million in its opening weekend.

‘Radhe Shyam’, however, grossed big money in the UK.

Overall, Prabhas gets decent numbers in the first weekend.
