Pushpa 2: A record-breaking blockbuster in Hindi and superb weekend in Telugu

Pushpa 2

When all language versions combined, “Pushpa 2 The Rule” grossed a phenomenal amount in four days (the first weekend) of its run, both domestically and internationally. The Hindi version of “Pushpa 2” has been setting new records in India and emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever in the first weekend. It beat the collections of Bollywood record-breaking blockbusters like “Jawan” in the first weekend’s run.

All-time records for Hindi

According to Bollywood trade websites, the Hindi version of “Pushpa 2” collected nearly Rs 280 Cr nett in the four days. This is phenomenal. No Indian film in a single language grossed such a record amount in four days so far. Thus, “Pushpa 2” set an all-time record.

Bollywood trade websites report that the film collected an unbelievable Rs 80 Cr on Sunday, its fourth day.

Superb revenue in Telugu states

The Telugu states have also contributed in a big way. The film’s collections increased significantly on Saturday and Sunday, despite low run on Friday. Overall, the four-day collection is huge despite mixed reviews and uproar over high ticket prices. But it has not set any records in the crucial Telugu market. While the Hindi version already became a huge blockbuster, it remains to be seen whether the Telugu version will achieve ‘hit’ status.

Underperforms in Malayalam

While the Tamil version did impressive business in four days, the Malayalam version surprisingly underperformed. The Kannada version is also not doing much.

First $10M-plus movie for Allu Arjun

With “Pushpa 2,” Allu Arjun is joining the club of $10 million in North America. In its first weekend, the film grossed $9.5 million, and it will enter the club of $10 million on Monday. Allu Arjun achieved this massive feat with this film. Interestingly, the first part of “Pushpa” grossed just $2.4 million in its lifetime run.
