The governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have allowed cinemas to reopen. Yet, no film has announced its release date so far. Uncertainty prevails. The distributors and exhibitors of the Telugu film industry have now decided to come together to plan the new releases. The Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce will announce its decision tomorrow.
Buzz is that films like Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Love Story’, Nani’s ‘Tuck Jagadish’, ‘SR Kalyana Mandapam’ and ‘Paagal’ might announce their release dates shortly. They may make it to the theaters in August.
The biggies like ‘Acharya’, ‘RRR’, ‘Radhe Shyam’ and ‘Pushpa’ will further wait to announce their release plans.
Films like ‘Drushyam 2’ have already opted for a direct-OTT release. But to emerge clarity on the theatrical releases and the steady flow of new releases, we may have to wait for another week or two.
On the other hand, all the major stars have returned to the sets. After three months of lull, Tollywood is seeing a lot of activity.
