The Telugu box office continues to struggle, with several recent releases failing to attract audiences. Last weekend saw more than half a dozen films hitting theatres, but most of them opened to poor collections due to a dull season and lack of strong buzz.

Among the notable releases were “Mrithyunjay” starring Sree Vishnu, Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani produced by Sivaji, Saraswathi directed by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and “Mension House Mallesh” starring Srinath Maganti.

However, none of these films managed to generate significant footfalls. With the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup season and celebrity weddings dominating public attention, theatre occupancy remained low. The overall dull market conditions further affected collections.

Among the releases, “Mrithyunjay” performed relatively better. The thriller benefited from decent reviews from critics and managed to gain some traction despite the weak box office environment. Compared to Sree Vishnu’s previous release and the other films that opened last weekend, the film emerged as the better performer.

On the other hand, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s directorial debut “Saraswathi” failed to make any notable gains over the weekend. Meanwhile, “Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani,” which had generated some curiosity before release, turned out to be a major disappointment at the box office. Among the films presented by ETV Win in recent times, this one has reportedly performed the worst.

Since the Sankranthi 2026 releases, none of the Telugu films have emerged as clear hits. The trade is now looking forward to “Ustaad Bhagat Singh,” starring Pawan Kalyan, hoping the big-ticket release will revive the box office when it arrives in theatres.
