Gunasekhar’s disastrous record continues

“Okkadu” established director Gunasekhar as a filmmaker with a distinct vision. He is well-known for his elaborate sets. Charminar set for “Okkadu,” stunned everyone. Calcutta city was recreated in a film studio for “Chudalani Undi,” another massive hit in his career. “Arjun” witnessed the construction of the Madhura Meenakshi temple set.

These films sparked a huge interest in his vision. However, the director’s creative abilities began to wane after the release of “Arjun,” a mediocre hit.

Gunasekhar followed it up with “Sainikudu,” which was a colossal flop. “Varudu” and “Nippu” followed, both of which bombed at the box office. He did, however, gain sympathy and some success with “Rudhrama Devi.” But everything changed after the release of “Shaakuntalam.” Another disaster has been added to his list.

 ‘Mrugaraju,’ ‘Sainikudu,’ ‘Varudu,’ ‘Nippu,’ and ‘Shaakuntalam’ are biggest flops in Gunasekhar’s career. Since he is also producer of ‘Shaakuntalam’, he will be seeing huge losses.
