A lot has been written about and speculated about the release of Rajamouli’s upcoming epic drama, RRR. Featuring NTR and Ram Charan as the freedom warriors, the big-budgeted drama is nearing the completion of its shoot.
Currently, a massive climax action episode is being filmed in Hyderabad involving both the lead actors. The film’s entire shoot is expected to be completed by March. As the mega epic drama has entered into its final phase of shooting, the release date has come into focus.
Alison Doody, one of the cast members, accidentally dropped the hints that October 8, 2021, has been confirmed as the release date. However, Doody later deleted her Instagram post.
Our sources say Rajamouli is thinking about two dates – October 8, 2021, and January 7, 2022. If he gets confident that the USA theatrical business comes back into the groove by October, he will go with this Dussera release plan. Or he will wait until Sankranthi 2022.
While the domestic theatrical market is opening up, the overseas business has remained dull.
The film’s overseas rights have been sold for a whopping Rs 68 crore. Unless the USA market opens up, the overseas distributor cannot recover it. Or the producer has to return the money to the distributor.
This is the dilemma that the ‘RRR’ team is facing.
Directed by Rajamouli and produced by DVV Danayya, ‘RRR’ also features Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in important roles.
