Sridevi Vijaykumar: Prabhas is still a very good friend
Actress Sridevi Vijaykumar made her debut alongside Prabhas in “Eeswar,” (2002) which also marked his entry into films. While Prabhas went on to become one of the biggest superstars in Indian cinema, Sridevi took a break from acting after marriage. Now, with her daughter grown up, she is making a comeback. She will be seen as one of the leads opposite Nara Rohit in “Sundarakanda,” slated for release on August 27.
Talking about the film, Sridevi said, “I was shocked when I first heard the story of Sundarakanda. It was such a fresh script. I asked for some time to think, but the director was very confident and convinced me quickly. He made the film exactly the way he promised. It has shaped up beautifully and is a wholesome entertainer. My character has many layers and emotions.”
Sridevi Vijaykumar added that she even got to wear a school uniform for the role. “That was such a memorable experience! I clicked and saved many photos in the school dress. It’s a character I will always cherish.”
On working with Nara Rohith, she said, “I’ve known Rohith for a long time. He’s very cool, very genuine. Acting with him brought me a lot of happiness.”
When asked about Prabhas, her first co-star, Sridevi fondly recalled their bond: “Our friendship is the same even today. Despite becoming such a huge star, Prabhas garu hasn’t changed one bit. He still talks with the same innocence, like a child. Back during Eeswar, we already knew he was destined for stardom. The crowds that followed him even then were unbelievable. But the way he has risen beyond expectations is truly amazing.”
And what about her secret to looking so fit after all these years?
“Being happy—that’s my biggest secret. I believe it’s also God’s blessing. For Sundarakanda, I prepared a diet plan, and that helped too,” Sridevi Vijaykumar added.
