The coronavirus pandemic has changed the movie-watching habits. Consuming OTT content has become the norm. Skipping theatrical windows and streaming directly on OTT platforms is also turning into a new trend with a medium-range movie like ‘V’ debuting on Amazon Prime on September 5. The film is directed by Indraganti Mohan Krishna and stars Nani and Sudheer Babu in the lead roles.
Ahead of the film’s digital premiere, Sudheer Babu interacts with the media via a zoom conference. Read on…
‘V’ was originally meant for theatrical release but we have no other option now. This direct OTT release is also a great experience as it will stream in nearly many countries worldwide. This is the best option during this pandemic time.
An inspiring role
I am playing a role that is unique, something that I have never essayed. Also, the role will inspire many. It is a cop role but has different shades.
‘V’ is the story of two persons, who throw a challenge to each other. Nani is playing a role with negative shades. Indraganti sir offered me to choose either of the roles when he narrated the story and I wanted to play Nani’s character but ultimately I got to play this cop’s role.
Brad Pitt’s references
I have always maintained a fit physique, but I was asked to develop a six-pack abs and fitter body as the director gave me the reference of Brad Pitt’s role of ‘Fight Club’. Nani has never done the role that he’s played in this film. His character is quite different as well. But all I can say, we both fitted well in our roles. We have never worried about who got more space or who got less. We believe in Indraganti’s creative vision.
Pullela Gopichand Biopic
Yes, Pullela Gopichand biopic has been put in the back burner. I am not sure when it will start rolling. I hope it may soon start.
Open to act in web dramas
I am game for doing web series. If a good production house comes up with the right script and right budget, I will sign them. At present, I am planning to produce a web series on our banner.
