Tollywood is a second home to me: Priya Prakash

Priya Prakash Varrier needs no introduction. The Kerala Kutty shot to fame with the famous ‘wink’ act in one of the Malayalam songs and became a heartthrob to the youngsters. She has now focussed her career in Telugu. Early this year, she appeared opposite Nithin in ‘Check’, which bombed at the box office. Now, she is testing her luck with the upcoming film ‘Ishq Not A Love Story’. The film will grace the theatres worldwide on July 30th.

Excerpts from Priya Prakash Varrier’s interview…

How did you land in ‘Ishq’?

Generally, I seek time before signing a movie as I want to rethink my role and the story. In the case of ‘Ishq’, I didn’t think twice as I watched the original Malayalam movie and loved it. As the title says, it is not a regular love story. Many surprising elements enthrall the audience.

Have you grasped the Telugu language?

Teja Sajja is a good co-star. He is like a friend to me now. He helped me in getting the dialogues correct. I am more comfortable with Telugu the language now. I have hired a tutor as well. I am confident that I can speak in Telugu shortly. The Telugu film industry has become a second home to me.

The differences between the Malayalam’s Ishq and this film?

Director SS Raju took the soul and theme of the original and narrated in his style. He also told me to forget about the Malayalam version and enact as I feel. The story is the same, but the nuances are different.
