Actor Joseph Vijay, aka Thalapathy Vijay, is facing the biggest political setback since launching his party TVK, following the stampede in Karur, Tamil Nadu three days ago, in which 40 people, including children, died. The incident triggered a massive uproar and political storm in the state, with Prime Minister Modi, several chief ministers, politicians, and actors responding and offering condolences to the innocent lives lost in the tragedy.
With just eight months left for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Vijay is facing a serious challenge in handling the fallout. The ruling government is using the incident to corner him completely, projecting him as an irresponsible leader. But politics aside, an actress unexpectedly entering this debate has sparked huge social media chatter.
Kayadu Lohar, who shot to fame with films like Dragon starring Pradeep Ranganathan, allegedly tweeted that she lost a friend in Karur and questioned Vijay in strong words. This set off a controversy.
Kayadu Lohar’s statement
However, Kayadu Lohar later clarified that the Twitter (X) account posting in her name is fake and the statements were not made by her. She wrote:
“The Twitter account circulating posts under my name is fake. I have no connection with it, and the statements made there are not mine. I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident at the Karur rally, and my heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones. However, I want to make it very clear that I do not have any personal friends in Karur, and the narrative being spread in my name is false. Please do not believe or circulate this misinformation.”

This is the second time Kayadu Lohar’s name has been dragged into Tamil Nadu political controversies. Earlier, a BJP leader alleged that DMK men paid her Rs 30 lakh for one night. He later withdrew the statement.
Kayadu Lohar previously acted in a Telugu film, Alluri, opposite Sree Vishnu, and she is now on the rise in Tamil cinema.
