Actor-turned-politician Vijayashanthi, who resigned from Congress, joined the BJP on Monday in Delhi. Vijayashanthi has been trying to join BJP but waited to see the results of the GHMC elections.
As BJP suddenly emerged as the main opposition in Telangana, she sees a brighter future for the party in the state in the coming years. This is a homecoming for her as she began her political career in the BJP.
She had joined the BJP in 1998 but quit the party in 2005 and floated the Talli Telangana party. Four years later, she merged her party with TRS in 2009. In 2009, she was elected as MP from Medak Loksabha on the TRS ticket
In 2014, she quit the TRS and joined the Congress party. After staying in the congress party for more than six years, she felt she is being sidelined in the party.
The national-award-winning actress was the superstar in the 1990s. The massive successes of ‘Karthavyam’ and ‘Osey Ramulamma’ proved that she enjoyed star power that is equal to Chiranjeevi or Rajinikanth back then.
She made a comeback to films in ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ this year. But she has not signed any move since the release of this Mahesh Babu’s movie.
