“Dhurandhar: The Revenge” is set to hit theaters worldwide on March 18, and the advance bookings have been extremely strong across many markets. The huge anticipation is not surprising, considering the first part of the franchise, “Dhurandhar”, turned out to be a massive box-office sensation.
With the sequel arriving in cinemas soon, there has already been speculation about the third installment in the franchise. Reports suggest that the producers at Jio Studios, who backed both parts, were keen that director Aditya Dhar announce “Dhurandhar 3” at the end of the film’s credits.
However, Aditya Dhar has reportedly decided against revealing any release date or immediate plans for the third part.
Sources say that “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” will conclude with a proper story resolution but will also feature an open-ended climax. This approach will allow the makers to continue the franchise in the future if they choose to do so.
Aditya Dhar is said to be in no hurry to begin work on the third installment and prefers to wait a few years before revisiting the franchise.
Interestingly, this approach mirrors the strategy adopted by some of India’s top filmmakers. Director Sukumar, for instance, has pushed “Pushpa 3” to around 2030 instead of rushing into the next chapter immediately. Similarly, Prashanth Neel did not announce a timeline for “KGF 3” even after “KGF: Chapter 2” became a massive blockbuster, only hinting that the next part would come after a gap.
By avoiding an immediate sequel announcement, Aditya Dhar seems to be following the same path.
