With “Akhanda 2” facing financial hurdles and being postponed indefinitely, the Telugu film industry is anxious about the film’s new release plan. Several small and mid-budget films are already lined up for December, and any announcement from the “Akhanda 2” team could force schedule changes.
If the makers confirm December 12 for release, “Mowgli” may have to vacate the slot. However, Karthi’s dubbed film “Annagaru Vostaru” cannot shift its date as its Tamil version is also hitting theaters on the same day.
If “Akhanda 2” targets December 25, films like “Champion”, “Shambhala”, “Patang” and “Dhandoraa” will be impacted and may need to pick new dates.
December 19 remains the most feasible option, but even then “Akhanda 2” will have to compete with James Cameron’s global biggie “Avatar 3” for screens.
This is the reason the entire industry is eagerly awaiting clarity from the makers. Last night, production house 14 Reels Plus released a statement thanking Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu for supporting them during the crisis and promised to announce a new release date soon.
