In a shocking turn of events, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu’s highly anticipated “Akhanda 2” has been indefinitely postponed just hours before its theatrical release. Late on Thursday night, the production house 14 Reels Plus issued a statement announcing the delay without revealing a new release date or further plans.
14 Reels Plus Statement for Akhanda 2 postponement
Calling it a painful moment for the makers, the statement read: “With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that #Akhanda2 will not be releasing as scheduled due to unavoidable circumstances. This is a painful moment for us, and we truly understand the disappointment it brings to every fan and movie lover awaiting the film. We are working tirelessly to resolve the matter at the earliest. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.”
This unexpected development means the film will not be screened anywhere in the world as planned. Paid premiere shows across India have already been called off, and the overseas premieres, including in the USA, have now been cancelled as well.
The financial issues
“Akhanda 2”, titled “Akhanda 2: Thaandavam”, has been burdened with severe financial troubles.
14 Reels Plus reportedly has multiple pending dues with financiers from previous films and ongoing productions. The production house also attempted to secure massive theatrical deals, but several distributors were reluctant to pay the high advances demanded.

Despite the tremendous hype, these unresolved issues have halted the release of what was marketed as Nandamuri Balakrishna’s first pan-India film. The movie features Balakrishna in a dual role, with Samyuktha as the leading lady.
