The much-awaited sequel of “Akhanda,” named “Akhanda 2 Thaandavam,” is in the works. The filming is progressing. However, director Boyapati Srinu is reportedly planning to change the film’s release date as he needs more time for post-production.
The devotional thriller stars Nandamuri Balakrishna in a dual role.
The makers earlier announced September 25, 2025, as the release date. But they are said to be planning to shift the movie to Sankranthi 2026. By postponing the film, Boyapati will have plenty of time on his hands to refine the final output.
The initial installment, “Akhanda,” achieved remarkable success. Hence, Boyapati has increased the budget to Rs 175 crore, with massive plans to release it in Hindi and other languages. Boyapati believes the core content of the devotional story will resonate with the Hindi audiences, besides the Telugu people. So, he is planning it as a pan-Indian project.

“Akhanda 2 Thaandavam” is likely to arrive on Sankranthi 2026 and compete with other biggies.
The film is being produced by 14 Reels Plus in association with Tejaswini, Balakrishna’s daughter.
