Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati’s mass entertainer ‘Akhanda’ has joined the club of $1 million grossers. The film grossed $1 million on Monday (13th December) in the USA, the first such feat for director Boyapati and the second for Nandamuri Balakrishna.
The success of ‘Akhanda’ in the USA is a surprise on many counts. Grossing more than 800k dollars in the first weekend itself has created the magic. The USA market has never been a strong territory for Balakrishna except for ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’, none of his movies had grossed more than a million dollars. Even the much-hyped ‘NTR: Kathanayakudu’ could not achieve it.
Balakrishna’s roaring performance in the role of ‘Akhanda’ and some sequences in the film have struck a chord with the audiences. The entertainer has also become the biggest hit in Balakrishna’s career in the domestic Indian market.
‘Akhanda’ starred Pragya Jaiswal as the heroine. Thaman’s high-decibel background score has helped the film’s success. The film is produced by Miryala Ravinder Reddy, who scored the first success.
