Anushka Shetty, one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated actresses, has significantly slowed down in her career, opting to release just one film a year. In fact, her recent projects have seen extended timelines, sometimes taking more than a year and a half to complete.
Her upcoming film “Ghaati” was initially slated for release on July 11 but was postponed at the last minute. We’ve learned that it was Anushka herself who requested the delay. The reason? She was reportedly dissatisfied with the visual effects used in certain sequences, particularly those involving her body.
Known for being selective about her projects, Anushka collaborates only with filmmakers who understand her creative and personal concerns—especially when it comes to on-screen appearance. She often works with UV Creations, a banner known to invest heavily in VFX to enhance her presence on screen.
In the film industry, it’s common for actors, especially top male stars, to rely on digital correction to smooth out facial wrinkles and other age-related features. In Anushka’s case, however, digital enhancements go beyond the face.
Ever since Baahubali, she has been using VFX to refine her entire body frame on screen, owing to certain health challenges that affected her physical transformation. While she has regained a fair level of fitness in recent times, she still prefers digital touch-ups to maintain a consistent on-screen appearance.
After watching the final version of “Ghaati,” Anushka felt that some scenes did not meet her expectations in terms of visual quality. She has asked director Krish and the production team to make necessary corrections and proceed with the release only after she gives her final approval.
Ghaati, directed by Krish and produced by First Frame Entertainment in association with UV Creations, will hit theaters only when Anushka Shetty is fully satisfied with the VFX output.
