Christopher Nolan has done it again. His latest epic, “The Odyssey,” has crossed the Rs 100 crore gross mark in India by the end of its first week, making it the biggest first-week performer of Nolan’s career in the country.
Starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, the film collected around Rs 7 crore gross on Thursday, taking its first-week total to Rs 105 crore gross, with an estimated Rs 89 crore nett.
Nolan’s previous blockbuster, “Oppenheimer,” was also a huge success in India, but “The Odyssey” has gone a step further with its opening week performance.
Ahead of the release, Christopher Nolan, along with Matt Damon and Tom Holland, visited Mumbai to promote the film, generating significant buzz among Indian audiences.
Based on Homer’s epic poem, “The Odyssey” follows Odysseus’s long and perilous journey home after the Trojan War. The film has received widespread critical acclaim and strong word of mouth from audiences. It also holds the distinction of being the world’s first feature film shot entirely using IMAX cameras.
