Telugu films have recently been facing serious hurdles in Karnataka, with the local government yet to respond to grievances raised by the Telugu film industry. Against this backdrop, some appealed to the Andhra Pradesh government not to allow a ticket price hike for “Kantara: Chapter 1”, one of the most-awaited and biggest Kannada releases.

Cinematography Minister of Andhra Pradesh Kandula Durgesh and senior officials briefed Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on the situation. However, Pawan Kalyan advised that the government should act with magnanimity for the sake of national unity and resolve such issues amicably.

He directed officials to permit the hike in ticket prices for “Kantara: Chapter 1”, which is directed by and stars Rishabh Shetty, and is produced by Hombale Films.

“Art should unite minds, not divide them. From the days of the late Dr. Rajkumar to the present, Kannada stars have enjoyed immense support from Telugu audiences. The film chambers of both industries should discuss and address the business challenges being faced. I will also bring this matter to the attention of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. Keeping in mind the issues in Karnataka, we should not create obstacles for Kantara: Chapter 1,” Pawan Kalyan told officials.

Following his directive, the Andhra Pradesh government approved a ticket price hike for the film in the state.
