Chinmayi defends herself after criticising Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan

Singer Chinmayi Sripaada has responded strongly to trolling on social media after she criticised Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan for congratulating lyricist Vairamuthu on receiving the Jnanpith Award.
Chinmayi questioned the decision to publicly celebrate Vairamuthu, who had faced allegations during the #MeToo movement. Her comments triggered a wave of criticism online, with many users targeting her for calling out the two veteran stars.
Responding to the trolling, Chinmayi defended her stance and said she had every right to express disappointment.
“A lot of you are just generally angry because I called out Rajini Sir and Kamal Sir. I was a fan too. I have the right to express my disappointment from men who I foolishly and naively expected would do better,” she wrote.
She also pointed out that one of them currently holds a public office and therefore should be held to higher standards.
Chinmayi is known for making strong comments when it comes to Vairamuthu, a veteran lyricist in Tamil film industry.
